Peta Wainwright

Biography

Peta Wainwright is a contemporary oil painter specialising in atmospheric landscape works. Originally from rural South Africa, she now resides in Norfolk, UK, where she continues to develop her artistic practice inspired by natural environments.

She holds a Master's degree from Norwich University of the Arts, establishing formal training in her medium and conceptual approach.

Her paintings emphasise atmospheric quality, often depicting expansive skies, sweeping horizons, and the interplay of light and shadow through oil painting techniques that convey serenity and grandeur.

Notable achievements include being shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt Art Prize (2022), finalist in the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painting Prize (2022), longlisted for the Women in Art Prize (2023), and representation by Point Contemporary.

She has exhibited extensively since 2018, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition (shortlisted, 2022), Mall Galleries London, and West Acre Gallery.
