About Peta

Peta Wainwright, was born and brought up in rural South Africa, and now lives and works as a contemporary painter in Norfolk, England. Having graduated from university in Newcastle, Peta moved to Italy for 3 years to work on her art. In 2010, she returned to the UK to do an MA in Fine Art at the Norwich University of the Arts, where she was awarded a distinction.   During that time she was selected as The Axis MA star 2011, and received a special commendation in The Bishops Art Prize. She has exhibited at The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, at The Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery.  In 2022 Peta Wainwright, was shortlisted for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Show and the Sir John Hurt Art Prize and was a finalist in The Hollybush Emerging Women’s Painting Prize.
